Sean Dougherty for CD-19
The Green Party of Santa Clara County has endorsed Sean Dougherty for Congressional District 19 which overlaps Santa Clara County. Mr. Dougherty is running a campaign centered on peace, justice, and climate action. The decisions were reached by unanimous consensus at the Party’s August 2023 General membership meeting.
GPSCC County Council Candidates
We are seeking nominees to run in the March 2024 Primary Elections for seven seats of the Green Party of Santa Clara County Council. Learn about the role of the Green Party County Council members here and contact us if you are interested in being a nominee. Current nominees are:
Nadia Nouri (she/her), a retired high-tech executive, became a registered Green in 2016 and has served as a Green Party of Santa Clara County Council member since 2017.
Committed to the Green Party’s 10 key values, Nadia has been campaigning for Green candidates since 2016. Single payer healthcare, climate crisis, stopping U.S. wars and housing justice are among issues that Nadia is passionate about and volunteers for.
Nadia graduated from Rutgers University in NJ with her BS and MS is Electrical Engineering. Originally from Iran, Nadia has lived in San Jose since 1990 and loves traveling the world and learning from other cultures.
Diane Harrison (she/her) is a retired travel agent, who, thanks to Greta Thunberg and her husband, finally admitted that airplanes are a terrible form of public transport for the planet and so stopped flying and left the industry. A recycler since childhood, a cyclist since attending UC Davis, and a vegan since late 1980’s, she found a home in the Green Party since its inception, and helped to register new Green voters. After retiring in 2017, Diane became active with the Santa Clara County Green Party and currently serves on the County Council. Diane was born in Berkeley, grew up mostly in the East Bay, and has lived in Santa Clara County for most of the last 30 years.
David Han (he/him) is a recent small business owner in Campbell. He graduated UC Berkeley in Environmental Sciences and with a master’s degree from San Jose State University in Health Education. He served in the US Army and was trained as a health inspector. He joined the Green Party because of his beliefs in advocating for human rights, seeking social justice, protecting the environment, and creating a democracy for all. His current political and social interests include reparations justice, honoring treaties, universal healthcare, defunding the military industrial complex, and climate action. He has served as Santa Clara County Green Party County Council member since 2020 and is currently the GPSCC Treasurer.
Nassim Nouri (she/her) is a retired medical research scientist & biotech executive. Since retiring in 2009, Nassim has been volunteering as a community organizer, campaigning for corporate-free candidates, mobilizing for social justice legislation such as Single Payer healthcare, and serving on non-profit Boards. She has served as the GPSCC County Council since 2017, currently serves on the Green Party of California (GPCA) Coordinating Committee and coordinates the GPCA Communications Committee. Nassim is an immigrant from Iran, an enthusiastic scuba diver, underwater photographer and gardener, she has lived in San Jose for over 25 years with her husband.
